Buddhist studies use fieldwork to understand Buddhism as a living tradition such as the doctrinal discourse in actual practice, ritualistic aspect, social issues, etc. This course aims at training students to acquire the ability of conducting qualitative research (i.e. fieldwork). Students will not only read Buddhist studies that involves fieldwork and theoretical study but also have the opportunity to conduct actual fieldwork.
